Kybella™ Injections for Chin Fat

Kybella™ utilizes the naturally occurring deoxycholic acid to absorb excess fat, making it the perfect choice in contouring the submental area, or chin fat, for aesthetic appearance. At the beginning of treatment, Dr. Funk will sit down with the patient to understand patient needs and help patients achieve the most natural results.

Over a course of 3-6 visits, Kybella™ will be administered in a number of small injections to the submental fat area. Dr. Funk will perform treatments in the comforts of his Houston office, in time intervals of 5-15 minutes, depending on the severity.

Treatment sessions are spaced 6 weeks apart with little to no downtime after injection. Patients may experience mild swelling about 5 days after each session, but nothing that would limit social interaction. After treatment is completed, Dr. Funk will continue to monitor the patient’s progress and appearance to achieve the most natural result.

Dr. Funk will meet with adults over the age of 18 who have moderate-to-severe fat below the chin. Before treatment begins, Dr. Funk will screen patients to ensure that the fatty area is not an effect of any other conditions, such as an enlarged thyroid or lymph nodes in the neck.

After treatment, Kybella™ patients should expect their chin area to be slightly red and tender with a possibility of swelling or bruising, depending on the patient. Patients who receive the injections usually experience a quick 2-3 day recovery after Kybella’s injection treatment. If there is any abnormal swelling or tenderness, Dr. Funk will work with the patient to resolve any abnormal symptoms.
