Facelift - Treating the D for Descent

I have described the 3 D’s of the aging face with many of my facelift patients. Descent, Deflation, and skin Deterioration. The facelift, neck lift or face and neck lift are an excellent treatment option for descent of the aging face.

As we mature, our skin and connective tissue begin to lose elasticity and turgor. As we lose this, gravity begins to win and things begin to descend. This is the reason we begin to notice depressed cheeks, jowling, laxity of neck skin, and overall loss of skin turgor throughout the face and neck.

A facelift or neck lift can resuspend these deep connective tissues and muscle and allow the skin to be redraped with the excess removed surrounding well hidden incisions close to the ears.
