Recovery after Facelift

Recovery after a facelift depends on the type of lift done and the extent of dissection. Patients who are typically over 60 require more advanced facelift techniques such as the extended SMAS and deep plane facelift. These types of lifts address the mid-face, jowls, jawline, and neck.

Typically, recovery after an advanced facelift is 2-3 weeks. Bruising and swelling should be resolved by 2 weeks and you are completely “social” at 3 weeks.

A short scar facelift or mini facelift for younger patients in their 40’s or early 50’s is not advanced of a technique and will not be as long-lasting of a lift. Recovery from these types of facelifts is typically 1-2 weeks.
