Rhinoplasty to repair the nasal valve

Nasal valve collapse can cause significant nasal airway obstruction. The nasal valve is the area of the highest resistance to nasal airflow. Obstruction through the valve region can occur due to trauma, simple genetics, or a deviated septum.

Rhinoplasty, with septoplasty, can assist with nasal valve obstruction with the use of what are called spreader grafts. Spreader grafts work by “spreading” open the nasal valve and allowing decreased resistance through this region and more airflow.

In some cases, this may widen the middle of the nose slightly. However, this may make the nose more aesthetically pleasing and balanced.

What is a Mini-Facelift or Short Scar Facelift?

A Short Scar Facelift or Mini-Facelift is a procedure which is used mainly to provide improvement for those patients with mild to moderate jowling and an ill-defined jawline but whose neck does not need significant improvement.

This type of facelift is typically reserved for younger patients in their late 40’s to early 50’s as older patients will likely need their neck addressed. It is a shorter procedure than a deep plane facelift or a combined face & neck lift. The recovery time is a little shorter at 10-14 days and there is no incision or scar under the chin. The incision is mainly made in front of the ear and extends slightly behind the ear.

The short scar facelift or mini facelift is an excellent choice for my younger patients with jowling but still with an aesthetically pleasing neck.

Rhinoplasty with Chin Implant

Many of my cosmetic nose surgery patients are unaware that one of the reasons their nose may appear over projected or enlarged is that their chin may be a little recessed. Although many of these patients may be coming in for a rhinoplasty consultation, I frequently will discuss the possibility of a chin implant to improve their overall aesthetic appearance.

The profile of the face is all about balance and harmony between the nose, chin, cheeks, and forehead. A chin implant can enhance the profile by creating this proportion between these features.

Chin augmentation with an implant has a short recovery with minimal downtime.
