Difference between a facelift and neck lift

Many of my patients are unsure of the type of facelift they need to improve the appearance of their jawline and neck. This is dependent on each patient’s age, how they have matured, and environmental factors. Younger patients in their 40’s and early 50’s may only require a neck lift which would remove excess fat in the neck and under the jawline. The incisions for a neck lift are just under the chin and behind the ears.

A full facelift will actually not only improve the neck and jawline as a neck lift will, but will address the jowls and parts of the mid face and skin laxity to not only the neck but the face too. The incisions are the same as the neck lift but will extend in front of the ear from behind the ear for the neck lift.

The deep plane face and neck lift not only elevates the skin and removes the excess lax skin but elevates the deep fascia and releases the ligaments to give the longest lasting and most advanced lift possible.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

There is been a significant amount of generated interest in non-surgical rhinoplasty or a liquid nose job using fillers such as Restylane or Radiesse. This can help camouflage the appearance of a dorsal hump without surgery. I absolutely do not recommend non-surgical or injection rhinoplasty for numerous reasons.

Filler injections to the nose will not improve the nasal airway and do not help breathing. With nose surgery, the aesthetic aspects of the nose may be addressed as well as the functional ones.

Filler injections to the nose can enter into a blood vessel and have led to case reports of visual loss in some patients. The arteries that run across the top and side of the nose trace back to the arteries behind the eye for vision. If the filler particle is injected with enough pressure, it can move back and occlude the artery supplying blood and oxygen to the retina leading to visual loss.

Filler injections to the nose are temporary and can lead to scarring making future surgery more difficult.

If you are interested in rhinoplasty or changing the shape of your nose, surgery is the best option.

Lip Augmentation with Fillers

Valentine’s Day is coming soon! What a perfect time to assure you have just the right fullness and volume to your lips to provide that perfect kiss.
Filler injection to the lips is an art that I believe needs to be done in moderation with just the right amount of volume so as not to look “done”. When performed correctly, lips look plump, more luscious, and are more upturned.
Below are a couple of examples of patients who had filler injection to their lips in addition to surrounding wrinkles and folds. Their lips look fuller and more accentuated but still appear natural and proportionate. Call today to get these kinds of result for your lips!
