Difference between a facelift and neck lift

Many of my patients are unsure of the type of facelift they need to improve the appearance of their jawline and neck. This is dependent on each patient’s age, how they have matured, and environmental factors. Younger patients in their 40’s and early 50’s may only require a neck lift which would remove excess fat in the neck and under the jawline. The incisions for a neck lift are just under the chin and behind the ears.

A full facelift will actually not only improve the neck and jawline as a neck lift will, but will address the jowls and parts of the mid face and skin laxity to not only the neck but the face too. The incisions are the same as the neck lift but will extend in front of the ear from behind the ear for the neck lift.

The deep plane face and neck lift not only elevates the skin and removes the excess lax skin but elevates the deep fascia and releases the ligaments to give the longest lasting and most advanced lift possible.
