Is Rhinoplasty Safe?

I frequently am asked by patients if nose surgery is safe. Rhinoplasty or a nose job is an outpatient surgery that is typically done under general anesthesia. In comparison to other types of outpatient and general surgery, nose surgery is relatively safe. Of course there are the risks of anesthesia but in today’s age of modern medicine, these are fairly minimal and rare. As far as wound healing is concerned, the nose has an excellent blood supply and rarely has issues with wound healing or infection. Just as with any surgery though, there are risks.
