Does a nose job hurt?

Many of my patients are concerned about the possibility of pain after nose surgery or rhinoplasty. The fact is that nose surgery or a nose job is not necessarily a painful surgery but described as more uncomfortable. The majority of my rhinoplasty patients do not require the narcotic (vicodin, codeine, etc) pain medication that is described and can control their discomfort with extra strength tylenol, sudafed, and benadryl.

That being said, everyone has a different pain tolerance and some may require narcotic medication. But overall, pain should NOT be a reason to avoid nose surgery or decide not to have a nose job.

Dr. Funk is a nose surgery expert in Houston, TX.
