Balloon sinus surgery

Patients who have recurrent sinus infections and are seeking sinus surgery in addition to rhinoplasty or sinus surgery alone may have heard of balloon sinuplasty or balloon sinus surgery. This is where a small balloon is used to fracture the small thin bone at the opening between the sinus and the nose widening this opening and allowing mucus to exit into the nose more easily. This therefore helps prevent further and more extensive sinus infections.

Balloon sinuplasty is an excellent option for those patients who have recurrent sinus infections but don’t have significant findings on their CT scan. Balloon sinuplasty can easily be done at the same time as rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty.

Dr. Funk is a top nose surgeon in Houston.
