Will Rhinoplasty Help My Breathing?

Rhinoplasty may or may not help your breathing depending on what is done and who is doing it. Rhinoplasty combined with septoplasty for a deviated septum and turbinate reduction for enlarged turbinates will help your breathing. This is typically performed by a surgeon who is trained both in rhinoplasty or nose job surgery and nasal airway surgery. These types of surgeons are typically facial plastic surgeons who have completed and are also board certified in ear, nose, and throat surgery. Breathing problems may also be improved with valve correction or opening the nasal valve during rhinoplasty using spreader grafts or batten/strut grafts. Discuss how rhinoplasty can help your breathing with your surgeon.
