Can rhinoplasty fix snoring?

Many of my rhinoplasty patients have functional issues and one of those issues can be snoring. When asked if rhinoplasty can fix snoring, the answer is that it depends. If you have a deviated nasal septum or enlarged turbinates, septoplasty and turbinate reduction may improve if not cure your snoring. However, if you have enlarged tonsils, a long soft palate or uvula, or an enlarged tongue, these could be the cause of your snoring as well. Rhinoplasty can address the functional issues of your nose and allow you to breathe better. If you are breathing more through the nose at night after rhinoplasty and less mouth breathing, the structures in the back of the throat that vibrate and lead to snoring will vibrate less. This will lead to less snoring or no snoring.
