Rhinoplasty to build bridge

Rhinoplasty or nose job surgery to build the nasal bridge is frequently performed in ethnic rhinoplasty. This is a common procedure for Asian rhinoplasty or African American rhinoplasty. Frequently, with ethnic noses, the bridge or dorsum is low and needs to be built up. This can be done using different types of grafts or synthetic materials. Rib cartilage can be used to build up a patient’s nasal dorsum or bridge. This could be the patient’s own rib or cadaver rib during the rhinoplasty. Ear cartilage and septal cartilage after septoplasty can also be used to build up the bridge during ethnic rhinoplasty. Lastly, Goretex, medpore, or silicone implants have been used to build up a patient’s bridge as well.
