Asian Rhinoplasty

Asian patients who visit my Houston office seeking rhinoplasty typically have similar requests. Asian rhinoplasty typically consists of building up a bridge, refining the nasal tip and increasing the projection of the nasal tip or how far it sticks out off the face. Asian rhinoplasty also entails narrowing the nostrils and creating better “lines” to the nose with osteotomies during nasal surgery. Asian nose skin is typically thicker than Caucasian skin especially in the tip therefore the amount of refinement of the tip is limited. In addition, darker pigmented Asian skin does not heal as well and the scars can be seen more readily or are more pigmented than in Caucasian skin.

Dr. Funk is an Asian rhinoplasty expert in Houston.
