Will Septoplasty fix a crooked nose?

My Houston rhinoplasty and septoplasty patients frequently ask if septoplasty alone will fix their crooked nose. Septoplasty for a deviated septum will improve breathing and may make the nostrils more symmetric, but will not straighten a crooked nose. The outer bony and cartilaginous framework of the nose will need to be straightened in order to straighten the appearance of the nose externally. This may include controlled fractures of the nasal bones, stitches to bend the cartilage and weakening the cartilage in certain ways.
