Can Rhinoplasty Fix Post Nasal Drip

Rhinoplasty or Nose Job Surgery can address functional nasal issues such as a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates. Post nasal drip can be due to many factors. Enlarged adenoids in the back of the nose or enlarged turbinates can lead to post nasal drip. Nasal allergies may also lead to post nasal drip.

During rhinoplasty, the adenoid may be removed or cauterized and the turbinates may be reduced in size. Although rhinoplasty will not cure allergies, it will decrease the severity of the allergies in terms of congestion by making the turbinates smaller. The irritative allergic symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing may still be present after rhinoplasty and these can be controlled medically.
