Many of my Houston rhinoplasty patients who call the office have two important questions. Will insurance pay for my nose job and how much does rhinoplasty cost? There is no straightforward answer to these questions as there are many variables that must be taken into consideration.
Firstly, insurance will NOT pay for the cosmetic changes to your nose with rhinoplasty. Taking down a nasal hump, straightening a crooked nose, refining a bulbous tip, narrowing the nostrils, or making the nose smaller are all cosmetic changes that will not be covered by insurance. If you have a deviated septum, chronic sinusitis that requires sinus surgery, enlarged turbinates, or nasal valve collapse, these are things that can be covered by your insurance. However, you must verify your deductible and out of pocket to assure that you have good benefits. Otherwise, utilizing you insurance for the breathing portion of things may INFLATE your cost.
The cosmetic cost of rhinoplasty will vary depending on your surgeon. Surgeons have different levels of experience and some are rhinoplasty experts while others focus more on breast and body surgery. The cost of rhinoplasty may also vary based on geographic region. Lastly, the complexity of your nose will also determine the cost of your rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is a much more complex surgery that requires great skill and may cost more.
