Does revision rhinoplasty cost more?

Many of my Houston revision rhinoplasty patients who come in for consultation would like to know the cost of revision rhinoplasty and whether it costs more than primary rhinoplasty. This depends on the extent of work necessary for the revision. Some patients might feel that a revision rhinoplasty requires just a slight tweak, but revision rhinoplasty is a much more difficult operation than rhinoplasty the first time around. This is typically due to scar tissue.

After rhinoplasty, scar tissue builds up between the skin and cartilage and surrounds that cartilage of the nose making it more difficult to work with and shape. That cartilage is less malleable and much more fragile. In addition, there will now be a new layer of scar tissue over that older layer of scar tissue. This makes refining the nose, especially the tip, much more difficult.

The healing process during revision rhinoplasty is less predictable and the swelling typically takes much longer to improve after a revision.
