How long before I can have revision rhinoplasty?

Many of my Houston rhinoplasty patients who come in for revision rhinoplasty and are unhappy with the results want to know what can be done and when they can have a revision rhinoplasty performed. After rhinoplasty, there is significant scar tissue deposited between the skin and cartilaginous framework. It takes time, especially after open rhinoplasty, for the swelling to subside and the scar tissue to settle.

That being said, the timing for revision rhinoplasty also depends on what needs to be revised. If a patient feels there is still a small hump on the bridge of the nose, this can be addressed as early as 6 months. However, if the patient feels the tip is still bulbous, this may need to wait 12-18 months until all swelling resolves.
