Rhinoplasty for a flat nose

When one of my Houston ethnic rhinoplasty patients is concerned about a flat nose, it is important to identify what makes this nose flat. With Asian rhinoplasty or African American rhinoplasty, a flat nose typically means the bridge is flat and ill defined and the tip is insufficiently projected or defined. With ethnic rhinoplasty, the bridge of the nose can be built up with the patient’s own septal cartilage after septoplasty for a deviated septum. Ear cartilage for ethnic rhinoplasty could also be used. Rib cartilage for ethnic rhinoplasty to build the bridge is an option. This could be the patients’ own rib or cadaver rib. Some may use synthetic material to build up a bridge as well.

The tip can be built up with the patients own septal cartilage to define it and increase the nasal tip projection.
