Uneven nostrils after rhinoplasty

Patients who have uneven nostrils prior to rhinoplasty frequently address this during consultation in my Houston office. Uneven nostrils may be due to a deviated septum, asymmetric cartilages, scarring, or previous trauma to the nose. Rhinoplasty can address uneven nostrils by creating better symmetry to the nasal tip cartilages utilizing grafts to brace these cartilages. Septoplasty to correct a deviated septum may also create more even nostrils. Uneven nostrils after rhinoplasty is difficult to correct with revision rhinoplasty as there is now scar tissue surrounding the area and this may prove difficult to correct with a revision.
