I recently was asked by one of my Houston rhinoplasty patients about alarplasty and what it entails. Alarplasty, also know as alar base reduction, nostril reduction, or Weir excisions is a technique in rhinoplasty to reduce the width of the nostrils, change the shape of the nostrils, and improve alar flare. Alarplasty requires incisions to be place around the nostrils in the groove of the nostril so that they are camouflaged well. This is a common technique performed in ethnic rhinoplasty.
