Irregularities after a facelift

When discussing the recovery after a facelift with my Houston patients, I always mention the irregularities that may occur in front of the ear and under the earlobe. This is where the muscle is suspended and may overlap slightly to create what some of my patients like to call lumpy bumpies. These are minor irregularities and usually begin to settle starting at 2-3 weeks after the facelift. This can occur with a facelift or mini facelift. At the 3 week mark, patients can gently massage these irregularities and this helps them resolve more quickly. Facelift patients are still social between 2-3 weeks despite this healing process and can easily camouflage these minor irregularities with their hair. All is typically settled and resolve within 3 months.
