Rhinoplasty after filler injection to nose

Some of the Houston rhinoplasty patients I see in consultation mention to me that they have had filler injection into the nose. This is also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty or liquid rhinoplasty. Now these patients are requesting and seeking surgical rhinoplasty or a permanent solution to their nasal hump, crooked nose, or bulbous tip. One of their immediate questions is whether having non-surgical rhinoplasty or liquid rhinoplasty precludes them for a future nose job.

It is important to know two things regarding rhinoplasty after filler injection into the nose. The first is when was the filler injected into the nose. The next is what type of filler was injected into the nose. Filler should dissolve on its own over a period of time depending on the type of filler injected into the nose. If the filler was a hyaluronic acid filler such as Juvederm or Restylane this can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. If the filler was a semipermanent filler or permanent filler, then this can make the surgery more complicated due to scar tissue between the skin and cartilage of the nose.

Rhinoplasty can usually be easily performed after filler injection into the nose. It is simply important to know where, when and what type of filler was used.
