What is a liquid facelift?

Some of my Houston facelift patients have inquired about the possibility of a non-surgical facelift or a liquid lift. A facelift, as the name implies, is performed to suspend the sagging face and neck and improve jowling, tighten the neck, and the jawline and sometimes lift the cheeks. A liquid facelift is performed using fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm to fill a face that has lost volume. This does not necessarily provide the “lift” required for sagging jowls and a loose neck. It can create more cherubic, full cheeks which are associated with youth. It can also fill the tear trough to make the eyes look less tired and more youthful. We can also use filler to address depressed temples, smile lines, or marionette lines. Recovery after a liquid facelift is only 1-2 days with mild swelling and minimal bruising.

Can rhinoplasty fix a wide nose?

Some of my Houston rhinoplasty patients are most concerned about the width of the nose and inquire as to whether rhinoplasty can fix a wide nose. A wide nose can be due to wide nasal bones, wide middle vault, or a bulbous tip. Wide or flared nostrils as seen in ethnic rhinoplasty can also lead to a wide nose.

Rhinoplasty for a wide nose can be performed to narrow the nasal bones with osteotomies, narrow the middle vault cartilage with sutures, or refine the tip with cartilage reshaping and grafts. Narrowing the nostrils through alar base reduction can also enhance an ethnic nose.

Eyelid surgery or Browlift

Many of my Houston eyelid surgery patients wonder if they need a brow lift. It’s important to have a good evaluation of your eyebrows and upper eyelids. If you have that crepe thin wrinkled skin that is redundant to the upper eyelid, and your eyebrows are in good position, than an upper blepharoplasty is likely the best surgery. However, if you are a female and your brows lie over the rim of the forehead and you have heavy thicker brow skin that is hooding the eyelid, than a brow lift is your best options. That being said, some patients require both procedures.
