Can rhinoplasty fix a wide nose?

Some of my Houston rhinoplasty patients are most concerned about the width of the nose and inquire as to whether rhinoplasty can fix a wide nose. A wide nose can be due to wide nasal bones, wide middle vault, or a bulbous tip. Wide or flared nostrils as seen in ethnic rhinoplasty can also lead to a wide nose.

Rhinoplasty for a wide nose can be performed to narrow the nasal bones with osteotomies, narrow the middle vault cartilage with sutures, or refine the tip with cartilage reshaping and grafts. Narrowing the nostrils through alar base reduction can also enhance an ethnic nose.
