Rhinoplasty or a nose job is a type of surgery that is not particularly painful but can be uncomfortable. My patients rarely need to take much of their narcotic medication but describe the first two days after surgery as having more discomfort than pain.
Your nose will feel congested the first few days and once the swelling settles, it will improve. Recovery from nose surgery typically takes anywhere between 6-10 days. Most if not all of your bruising should be resolved by then and you are actually quite “social” at this stage. Full work out routine and exercise may be resumed at 2 weeks after surgery. The recovery from rhinoplasty for the cosmetic aspect of the nose and the functional aspect of the nose is quite similar.
Dr. Funk is a rhinoplasty specialist in Houston who treats both the deviated septum and breathing issues in addition to the cosmetic concerns of the patient.
