Rhinoplasty or nose surgery for a bulbous nasal tip is the only way to create a more refined nose. The bulbosity of the nasal tip is typically due to excessive width to the cartilage, excessive “spring” to the cartilage making them bowed, or cartilages that are spaced too far apart or don’t have definition.

In addition, a bulbous tip can be due to thick nasal tip skin. This, in addition to the cartilage, is frequently the case in ethnic noses such as those seen in African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians.

Treating the bulbous tip with rhinoplasty or a nose job is done by removing small edges of the cartilage to refine them and using suturing techniques to create a sharper but yet natural nasal tip. Sometimes, cartilage grafts are necessary to create a more refined nasal tip in patients. Lastly, thinning of the nasal tip skin may be necessary for thick-skinned patients.
