With many people wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, many of my Houston rhinoplasty patients are asking if they can wear a mask over their nose after rhinoplasty.
During your first week of recovery after rhinoplasty, you will spend most of your time at home so you will not need to worry about wearing a mask. When you are ready to start venturing out and will need to wear your mask, make sure the mask is made of paper or cloth and very loose over your nose. You do not want the mask to press on the nose or pull down on the tip.
Be careful when taking your mask on and off. 6 to 8 weeks after rhinoplasty, you can adjust your mask a little more tightly over your nose if necessary.
