Many of my Houston facelift patients ask whether they are too young to have a facelift when they start noticing jowling. Everyone ages differently depending on ethnicity, skin thickness, facial contour, and environmental exposure. Jowls are one of the first signs patients may start to see in their late 30's. There are many non-surgical options to address jowls such as filler to the prejowl sulcus, energy based skin tightening solutions, or microneedling. However, one must recognize that these will provide modest results.
In order to really tighten your jawline and address jowls, you may consider a lower facelift in your late 30's or early 40's. The extent of dissection and downtime would be less than a full facelift or face and neck lift. Recovery after a lower facelift is 10-14 days and you would be social and able to get back to normal workout routine.
