Many of my eyelid surgery patients will ask if they are ready for upper eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty. Some may ask at what age is the best time to get an upper blepharoplasty. Most patients will begin to see laxity in their upper eyelid skin in their 30's and this will progress. The upper eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in the body so it looses its elasticity quickly. The time to get upper eyelid surgery is when it seems to be bothering you most. If you cannot get your eye shadow, eye liner or mascara on easily or people keep mentioning you look tired, these may be signs. Difficulty seeing things when you look up is usually a late manifestation we see in the 70's. It's always best to come in for a consultation for upper eyelid surgery to assess if you are a good candidate.
