Am I too old for rhinoplasty!

We frequently will have older patients inquiring about rhinoplasty and if they are still a candidate for cosmetic nose surgery.  While the average age for rhinoplasty is usually in the 20's, Dr. Funk performs rhinoplasty on patients in their 50's, 60's, and even 70's!

It is important to note that when we age our nasal skin changes.  The skin over the bridge of the nose thins while the tip skin thickens. This makes rhinoplasty more challenging in avoiding irregularities over the bridge and more difficulty refining the tip.  With rhinoplasty, we are changing the shape of the cartilage and bone and then the skin needs to contract to that new framework.  As we age, we lose elasticity in our skin and older rhinoplasty patients may not contract as well or as fast as our younger rhinoplasty patients.  However, as long as you are medically capable of undergoing this surgery, rhinoplasty is an operation with no age limits!
