What is a Barbie Nose Rhinoplasty?

Some of our Houston rhinoplasty patients have made requests of Dr. Funk for a "Barbie Nose" with their rhinoplasty.  While there is no exact definition of a Barbie nose, this look is characterized by a nose with a slight sloop or curve and an upturned, well-defined nasal tip. This rhinoplasty result may appear as though you have had surgery, especially for ethnic rhinoplasty patients.  However, Dr. Funk feels there is no right or wrong when it comes to aesthetics as long as it does not impede function.  Everyone may want something different, and Dr. Funk will help and make recommendations during your consultation to provide you with a nose that will fit your face while accommodating your aesthetic desires.

While traditional rhinoplasty is highly personalized and often focuses on achieving natural, balanced proportions harmonious with the patient’s unique facial structure, a Barbie nose job is more prescriptive in its aesthetic. The goal is to sculpt a nose with:

• A petite, narrow bridge
• Defined, lifted nasal tip with a subtle “slope” or “ski-jump” appearance
• Reduced nasal width and refined nostrils

Traditional rhinoplasty may prioritize subtle improvements, functional corrections, or ethnic preservation, whereas a Barbie nose job specifically aims for a distinct, stylized result.
