Does the Nose Grow Over Time?

Dr. Funk will frequently have patients who will mention that they think their nose has grown and will continue to grow as they get older.  The nose does change over time but the cartilage does not necessarily grow.  Just as we lose elasticity in our skin and ligaments in other areas of the face leading to jowling and skin laxity, the nasal ligaments lose support leading to a longer nose with a droopier tip.  In addition, the nasal skin will exhibit changes.  The skin over the bridge of the nose will get thinner while the tip skin will get thicker leading to an appearance of a bulbous tip.
