Is a facelift major surgery?

Facelift surgery can last anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on the type of facelift performed and the experience of the surgeon. Many of my Houston facelift patients are unaware thatfacelift surgery is a major surgerythat requires 2-3 weeks for recovery. A mini facelift with deep plane dissection takes about 3 hours. A face and neck lift with deep plane dissection will take approximately 4 hours. Facelift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Most facelift patients are in their 50’s and 60’s and therefore this amount of hours under anesthesia is considered significant in that age group.
