Lower eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty

As some of myHouston rhinoplastypatients may be in their 30’s or 40’s, they are interested in surgery for bags under the eyes. These patients question whether lower eyelid surgery can be performed at the same time as rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty and lower blepharoplasty can be safely performed at the same. I usually do the lower eyelids first as this is a “cleaner” or more sterile surgery than the nose job surgery. I explain to patients that most rhinoplasties get some bruising around the eyes as do lower eyelid surgery so, from a recovery perspective, this is the time to do both. However, the two combined usually cause more swelling of the eyelids.

Nevertheless, recovery from combination rhinoplasty and lower eyelid bag surgery is usually 10 days until you are social.
