Rhinoplasty scars

Many of our Houston rhinoplasty patients will ask about incisions with rhinoplasty and where the scars will be located after surgery. For open rhinoplasty patients, everyone gets an incision in the mid columella between the nostrils. This scar heals very well and Dr. Funk rarely has patients have many complaints about it. All the rest of the incisions are hidden inside the nose.

To narrow the nostrils or alar base, incisions are made at the junction of the nostril with the lip and cheek. These scars will take longer to heal and may still be red at the 4-6week mark. However, they will fade into a nice shadowed area by 3-6 months.
