What causes a bulbous tip?

Many of my Houston rhinoplasty patients complain of a bulbous tip and would like a more refined elegant nasal tip. Abulbous tip in rhinoplastyis usually due to wide tip cartilages or nasal tip cartilages that overly convex or have too much “spring” to them. The separate nasal tip cartilages may also be too wide apart.

Refining the bulbous nasal tip cartilages can be done by trimming the cartilage and reshaping them. Sometimes the nasal cartilages need to be divided and overlapped to remove the spring component. Stitches are also placed in the cartilages to refine the tip and bring the cartilages together.
