Will a facelift improve acne scars?

Many of my Houston facelift patients may have had acne as a teenager or adult and are curious if a facelift will help their acne scars. While facial wrinkles will be improved with a facelift, acne scars will not improve significantly with a facelift. The best treatment for acne scarring is laser resurfacing. However, patients with darker skin types may not be good candidates for laser resurfacing for their acne. A better treatment for acne scarring in patients with darker skin type is RF micro needling.

A facelift will improve the jawline, jowls, neck and cheeks. It will also improve some of the deep wrinkles in the cheeks. However, a facelift will not help acne scarring significantly.
