Chin Liposuction Houston

A double chin or heavy neck can be an undesirable trait that results in a poorly defined jawline and appearance of a heavy face. Some call this a turkey neck or neck fullness. Neck liposuction is an excellent option for patients with a double chin and jawline that needs definition.

Liposuction of the neck can provide a more contoured jaw neck line and allow the focus to be more on the face and not the neck. A more defined jawline will frame the face effectively and allow it to seem thinner.

What is the difference between chin liposuction and neck liposuction?

Patients who have a double chin and neck fullness may be good candidates for liposuction in this area.  Many have begun to refer to neck liposuction as chin lipo.  Regardless of the terminology, liposuction of the neck for a double chin will create a more contoured jawline and tighter neck line.

What does neck liposuction do?

Neck liposuction will create a more defined jawline and help treat a double chin and neck fullness. It will create a more acute and desirable angle between the neck and the chin which allows for a more aesthetically pleasing and youthful look.

Who is a candidate for neck liposuction?

Liposuction of the neck alone is usually best for patients under 45 years of age.  As we mature past 45, neck skin laxity increases and can lead to an undesirable result after neck liposuction alone. In this case, liposuction or removal of neck fat would need to be performed in conjunction with a neck lift. This is where the fat is removed and the underlying muscle is tightened to suspend the lax neck. Excess skin is excised behind the ear. Most patients under 45 years old who have neck liposuction have sufficient elasticity that the skin will contract on its own without the neck lift tightening.

What is the recovery after neck liposuction?

Recovery after neck liposuction is typically 5-7 days. The bandage is removed the day after surgery and a suspension garment is worn for the first 5-7 days day and night. Then is garment is only worn at night for 1- 2 weeks.

Should I have Kybella or Neck Liposuction?

Kybella is a good option for those patients under 45 who have a small amount of fat under the chin only or a double chin.  It requires at least 3 treatment sessions 2 months apart.  The results obtained are very dose dependent and patient dependent.  Dr. Funk has found that with Kybella, a 40-50% improvement can be achieved but with liposuction 70-80%.  Liposuction will also treat the area under the jawline and create a more defined jawline whereas Kybella cannot be injected in this area.  Cost comparison is based on the dose of Kybella and will vary with each patient.
